South African Pinotage.

Pinotage is a red wine grape, a cross between Pinot Noir and Hermitage and is often regarded as South Africa’s signature red wine variety.

Pinotage wines are very dependant on the skill and style of winemaking and can range from easy-drinking and rosé styles to full-bodied barrel-aged wines that will improve with age.

A well crafted Pinotage is typically deep red to purple in colour, a mouth-filling fruity raspberry palate often with undertones of oak, vanilla, banana and chocolate which carry through on the nose.

Australians who typically like a robust red with plenty of character will usually enjoy a Pinotage.

South Africa's favourite Pinotage wines are now available in Australia from South African Wines, the original and trusted online specialist importer and merchant of premium South African wines and brandies.
